Assistantships and Fellowships
Financial support may be available through Research Assistantships (RAs) or Fellowships. Fellowships are granted to students with very outstanding academic records. It may also be possible to obtain financial support toward a research assistantship through our new Coordinated Program in Plant Biology. For more information on this program, please look at the website http://www.botany.wisc.edu/plantportal/ and additionally http://www.botany.wisc.edu/plantportal/coordinate.html
Program Assistantships and Fellowships
We ask that your application be complete, including GRE scores, by January 15 for the Graduate School Fellowship competition. Research Assistantships are awarded by individual professors through funds available to their research programs. While there is no specific deadline for applying for these assistantships, they are quite competitive and early applications may have a better chance of competing for these funds. The stipend for RAs is currently $20,400 for 12 months and includes a tuition waiver and fringe benefits.
Please be advised that you do not need to make a separate application for financial support as your admission application will also serve as an application for assistantships and fellowships. There is no deadline for RA applications.
