Welcome!

Welcome to the Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics (PBPG) program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Established in 1968, the PBPG program has been designated a University of Wisconsin System Center of Excellence and leads the nation in the number of plant breeding graduate degrees granted in the last 20+ years.

As an interdisciplinary program, participating faculty are housed in the Departments of Agronomy, Biochemistry, Botany, Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Genetics, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, and Statistics. With research areas in a wide array of crops and topics, including biochemical and molecular genetics, biometry, quantitative genetics, cytogenetics and cytology, genecology, genetics, and plant breeding, our program is uniquely diverse and faculty work on a wide range of important crops. We invite you to browse our site and find out what the Plant Breeding & Plant Genetics program at the University of Wisconsin is all about!

The PBPG program hosts many seminars that are open to the public. These are given by faculty, graduate students, and visiting scientists. Click here to join our seminar listserv. Also check our calendar for upcoming seminars and events.
